This study investigates how moral education can help in ensuring peace in Nigeria. Moral education is an
important aspect of education because it helps to rid the society of some menace. One major problem of
Nigeria is the absence of a functional programme of moral education in our educational system. Immorality
in Nigeria is in the increase as the Nigerian educational system could not instill the required moral values
in the citizens. This situation has led to corruption, arson, murder, dishonesty, etc. The researchers contend
that despite all these vices, there is still hope for a better Nigeria if Nigerian scholars and political leaders
are charged to use their positions to encourage the provision of sound moral education programmes in the
educational system. This way peace could be ensured and acts that could engender corruption,
misunderstanding, violence and wars would be discouraged drastically.
